The History of Colorado Springs Country Club

The only member-owned country club in Colorado Springs, CSCC has a tradition of providing a welcoming and family-friendly environment with excellent service and quality amenities.

Charted in 1954, Colorado Springs Country Club is a refreshing choice among its corporate competitors. Lifelong friendships are formed within our small community and are as much a part of the experience as great golf and beautiful scenery.

The Early Years

Originally the site of the McKnight Dairy Farm, Colorado Springs Country Club began with a 99-year property lease from co-founders and then property owners, Dr. Frank Houck and Mr. J. Selby Young. Later, the Club purchased the property from the Houck and Young estates. In 1955, the Club's only amenities included the original dairy barn, which was renovated into a clubhouse and the property's acreage, but the membership had a vision of what the Club could be. By 1957, a nine-hole golf course was added, and by the summer of 1958, members could enjoy the first of three swimming pools. In 1965, the golf course architectural firm of Harrison, Brauer & Rippel designed and built an additional nine golf holes. At the same time, the Club added a second swimming pool and expanded the clubhouse.

A Second Major Renovation

In 1987, another major project was undertaken, which included realigning the playing order of the golf course, building a new golf shop and snack bar facility, and moving the tennis facilities to their current location. A significant challenge was added to the course in 2003, when the firm Phelps-Atkinson Golf Course Design was hired to redesign and rebuild Hole 12.

The Club continues to update its facilities in order to offer the best possible value and experiences to members and guests. Colorado Springs Country Club truly is a place where friends and family gather.
